About This Excursion
Imlil is the gateway village to Mount Toubkal, North Africa's highest peak at 4,167m, sitting in a dramatic valley surrounded by walnut groves and terraced fields. Even without summiting Toubkal, the village itself and surrounding trails are reason enough to visit.
This full-day excursion takes you hiking toward the village of Aremd (1,900m) or Sidi Chamharouch, with sweeping views of Toubkal's peak on clear days. Along the way you'll pass traditional Berber stone houses and terraced fields, before sitting down for a home-style lunch with a local family β a genuine taste of mountain Berber life.
It's a step further into the mountains than Ourika Valley, with higher altitude views and a more authentic trekking-village feel, while remaining accessible as a single day trip from Marrakech.
